Mr. Reed - PSSA Writing Scoring Guidelines - September 7, 2009

During Writing Workshop, the sixth grade students will be responding to a variety of writing prompts in three main categories - Narrative, Informational, and Persuasive. These are the types of prompts they were assessed on during 5th Grade PSSA Writing.

Below is a link to a PDF document on the Pennsylvania Department of Education website that outlines the guidelines which the state uses to score the three types of prompts (narrative, informational, persuasive) assessed during PSSA Writing. I'll be using these guidelines to assess the writing prompts that the sixth graders complete throughout the school year.

Mr. Reed - Labor Day weekend - September 4-7, 2009

What a wonderful group of 6th graders! I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students this week, and I'm excited for the possibilities that lie ahead.

Thanks so much for your help with the school insurance forms and two-sided "Emergency Card" sheets. As of yesterday, all forms and sheets have been signed and returned. Great job!
  • No Homework
I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing Labor Day weekend.
